Sunshine Stars defender Sholumade Bolu admits he enjoyed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Nasarawa United.
Deji Ayeni’s men had to battle hard without their shotstopper, Mustapha Lawal and performed outstandingly well with Leonard Ugochukwu giving the visitors an early lead after four minutes.
The hosts then got their equalizer through a Lawal Shehu tap-in after 42 minutes.
And versatile defender, Sholumade, who has impressed hugely so far term while forming a formidable partnership with Anthony Anioke at the backline, told Lodgexpress.com;
“We had a beautiful game at Lafia. That’s football. The NPFL has been pretty decent so far and I think we have impressed our fans greatly this season that they always want to watch us every matchday.
“That is what any team will want. We were aware we would have to concede possession of the ball but we maintained our gameplan which was to hit them on the counter-attack.
When asked how he felt about the overall team’s performance, Sholumade added;
“I thought we performed very well, especially in the first half. They didn’t cause us too many problems except for some threatless threats if I must put it that way.
The defender also admits he “kind of liked” the direct approach of Nasarawa United in the 1-1 draw.
“That was exactly what we knew we’d be facing,” he added. “A lot of scraps, a lot of battles and high-tempo game. It was like a typical Nasarawa United gameplay against us.
“It’s really nice the way we handled the pressures and ensured they didn’t score again after halftime.
“I kind of liked it and I look forward to more of those games.
