Anthony Anioke is full of delight with life at his first season at Sunshine Stars since joining last year.
The defender joined the Owena Whales for an undisclosed fee after starring for Ekiti United last summer and admits he is pleasantly surprised by how his debut campaign at the Ondo outfit has so far gone.
Anioke has since featured in six out of seven games for Sunshine Stars and has been fantastic at the backline, conceding just three goals in all his games so far and was the brain behind their barren draw against the reigning champions, Akwa United during their matchday 8 clash in Uyo last Sunday.
Since he made his debut against Enugu Rangers earlier this month, Sunshine Stars have never recorded any loss till date.
“In this short space of time I think I’ve grown massively,” Anioke told Lodgexpress.com. “I’m personally amazed as I’ve exceeded my expectations of what I thought I would achieve since I arrived here.
“I can only commend the club’s technical crew and my teammates for helping me settle quickly and do that, and I just want to keep doing what I’m doing now, keep improving day by day to become the best version of myself that I can be and be proud of performances.
“Playing for Sunshine Stars is an achievement and so is playing in the Nigeria topflight division. I am really pleased with myself and equally I want to keep pushing further and become the best player I can here. I won’t stop working until I get there.”
