Sunshine Stars fullback Habib Yakub was pleased with his performance against Shooting Stars on Sunday.
The skipper made his second start of the season as Sunshine Stars settled for a 2-2 draw to occupy the fourth position on the log and continue their impressive start to the campaign.
Yakub provided an assist for Azeez Ajagbe’s opening opener before going on to make a brilliant goal-bound clearance in the first half.
Speaking to the Lodgexpress afterwards, Yakub said:
“I think I performed well. Everything I had, I gave it to the team and I’m delighted with the overall performance of the players.
“Everyone gave their all and put in a right shift, it wasn’t just me, from Musty who made some vital saves in goal to the midfielders as well as the strikers, everyone. I’m just pleased that we got the point and that I made a contribution to the goals.”
The result now means that the Owena Whales are 14th on the log with six points from five matches played, having won once, drawn thrice and lost one, with a game against Wikki Tourists still pending.
Their next game comes up on Wednesday, January 19 against Gombe United, who were held to a barren draw at home against Enyimba on Sunday.
