Sergi Roberto is on the verge of inking a contract extension deal with Barcelona.
Sport reports that Roberto, the ‘third captain’ of Barcelona, is in talks with the club to extend his deal at Camp Nou.
This new deal would involve a significant wage cut in light of the club’s pressing financial situation.
With his current deal due to expire in June 2022, he is now hoping that an agreement can be found to prolong his stay at the club of his life.
It is understood that a deal could be reached before the end of the month. Roberto’s agents, from the Josep Maria Orobitg law firm, are working to reach an agreement on a two-year extension to his current deal which would see him remain at the club until June 2024.
