With just less than seven days before the commencement of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League season, some notable high profile players will be available on a free transfer before the transfer window closes.
Lodgexpress takes a look at two top players who can be picked up for nothing by clubs to further bolster the depths of their squads ahead of the forthcoming long season.
First on our list is;
(Ex club: FC Ifeanyi Ubah)
Despite a tough last season with FC Ifeanyi Ubah, it’s surely far too early to completely write off the playmaker’s chances of making a significant impact under a new manager, with Chidiogo being a rising star filled with tenacity, zeal, talent and potential to reach the top.
Chidiogo, is a versatile, tactically intelligent and creative midfielder with good technical ability and excellent vision.
A generous and hard-working team-player, he can also fit in several midfield positions. Likened to Liverpool’s playmaker, Thiago Alcantara, Chidiogo was usually deployed as a central midfielder under manager Uche Okagbue during his time with FC Ifeanyi Ubah last season, although he was also capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, as a deep-lying playmaker or as a winger on either flank.
He has speed as well as notable physical, defensive and athletic attributes, he possesses good stamina, as well as excellent ball control, dribbling skills, passing range and crossing ability, which allows him to beat players, find space and create chances for teammates.
He was a joy to watch last season when FC Ifeanyi Ubah played host to Adamawa United with Chidiogo coming on in the 70th minutes to steal the show with his flashy touches and pinpoint through passes.
Currently a free agent player, Chidiogo is keen on joining any top-flight club in the country as clubs prepare for the commencement of the 2021/2022 league campaign.
(Ex clubs: Cofine FC, Dakkada FC, FC One Rocket, Ibom Youths FC)
Eduek Edet began his career playing as an attacking midfielder or as a second striker at Cofine Football Club, and was often played in an attacking role during his time at Dakkada Football Club and FC One Rocket.
A quick, skilful and creative player, with excellent technique and ball control, Eduek is known for his natural ability to pick out an inch-perfect pass, dribble effortlessly through two or three markers or drift a shot into the top corner of the goal.
His one-step-ahead reading of the game, his anticipation of space and the general directing of his side’s performances are his most common traits.
He has also been known to take free kicks.
Why should a club sign him?
The hard-working midfielder is still very much on top of his game and will thrive at any NPFL club looking for a ‘number 8’ player.
The Nigeria Professional Football League 2021/2022 season will kickstart on Friday, December 17 and these players appear set to get their career back on course.
