Samson Gbadebo breaks silence on Akwa United 3-0 win over Kano Pillars

Akwa United centre-back, Samson Gbadebo has broken his silence after their impressive 3-0 thrashing of Northen giants, Kano Pillars in Uyo last Sunday on gameday one of the Nigeria topflight division.

New signings, Ezekiel Bassey and Stephen Chukwude, scored the first two goals for the league’s defending champions before skipper, Ubong Friday wrapped up the scoring in the stoppage time.

And Gbadebo who was really technical all through the afternoon, secured possession and was the guy willing to carry out when Pillars sat off in a slightly less ambitious block; was excellent in Keeping them quiet and had no blackspot in his fine performance.

Due to his style of play, Gbadebo was untroubled in all angles. Essentially, he was tasked with keeping things tidy at the back and avoid putting his side under pressure, which he did brilliantly.

He told Lodgexpress Sports correspondence, Faith Onwukwe;

“It feels great to beat Kano Pillars and I personally feel happy and blessed. It’s our first ever league title defence campaign and having to mark our presence with such result was an amazing way to begin the season.

“We all know how tough and unpredictable our league could be and that is what makes it one of the most toughest leagues in the world”.

Akwa United travel to Ibadan this weekend to take on league’s new boys, Shooting Stars Sports Club in matchday 2.
