Salah’s Egypt in disarray after new coach sacked on live television

Egypt’s players could not believe what they were seeing, after learning that their manager had been sacked on live television.

The Pharoahs have struggled in recent games since losing the African Cup of Nations final to Senegal.

They have only won two matches in that spell, recently losing 2-0 to Ethiopia and 4-1 to South Korea.

The head of the Egyptian Football Association, Gamal Allam, went on live TV and announced that coach Ehab Galal would be fired.

“We are looking to correct our mistake,” Allam said, via the Daily Star.

“I asked the man in charge of money at the federation whether we had dollars in the safe to pay for another foreign coach. He told me we didn’t.

“We chose an Egyptian coach because of the country’s economic situation and the rising value of the dollar.”

Watching Egypt’s recent defeat, veteran commentator Sabry Sirag said: “Things just cannot get worse than this. Ten years ago, football was run by retired footballers.

“Whether we agreed or disagreed with them is a different matter. Now the whole situation is absurd. [Carlos] Queiroz was able to hide the Pharaohs’ shortcomings as much as he could and took the team as far as possible, but we replaced him with a coach who claims to play sexy football but delivered nothing.”
