Rivers United midfield maestro, Joseph Onoja was on target for his side when they paid a visit to Kwara United.
The tied ended in a 1-1 draw thanks to goals from Joseph Onoja and Chinedu Nwanze respectively.
It was Onoja’s opening goal in the 47th minutes that ripped the stadium apart after curling a strike from the 32 meters to beat veteran Kwara United goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba.
His wonder goal has so far been rated by pundits as the potential goal of the season.
Reacting after the game during a post-match interview with Lodgexpress sport correspondent, Faith Onwukwe, Onoja said;
‘Firstly I’ll want to give thanks to God for the vital point away from home thou, we gave our best and we’ve moved into the top four on the table
‘Our opponents, Kwara United, are a good side and they played really well
‘I dedicate my superb goal to God almighty because he made it possible and also to my mom
‘I’m so happy I got the goal came at the right time and in the best possible spot’.
When asked if he’s aware his goal has been earmarked as the leading candidate as potential goal of the season, Onoja with the Instagram handle @Seifjoe Niko said;
‘I’m happy, I feel excited and proud to have made the hit from that point. I must reserve credence to the crossbar which didn’t block the ball while it got past that goalkeeper and also I must commend the ball for listening to the instruction of my strike’.
