Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken about the inclusion of Phil Jones in their Premier League squad.
United have plenty of options in central defence with the likes of Eric Bailly, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe.
Nevertheless, Jones is approaching full fitness, and Solskjaer may count on him towards the back end of the term.
“It’s disheartening. It’s the worst thing for a football player,” Solskjaer told reporters about Jones’ recent injury troubles.
“When you have injuries that take your passion away and take your chance to play football away.
“Phil has been a top centre-back and was in the World Cup squad two years back. He was brilliant when I came in, so I want him back into the squad as quick as I can.
“He’s a very solid citizen and he is one of those that you can trust and he is working really hard to get back and not just for us, for himself.
“I have been through bad injuries yourself and it might take your belief away and your enjoyment away. And he has been working so hard to get back. He’s had a couple of setbacks, but hopefully we can get some news.”
