Players of Ondo State based professional football team, Sunshine Stars have staged a peaceful protest in the state over the non-payment of their three-month salaries and other allowances.
The players marched from their campsite and reportedly went straight to the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu’s office on Tuesday morning, March 30.
Some of the protesting players rocked their team jerseys, with some carrying placards with various inscriptions such as “Mr. Governor Pay Our Salaries”
Their claim is that they’ve not been paid since the commencement of the 2020/2021 NPFL season with fans heaping blames on poor morale as one of the reasons the team has performed so poorly this season.
