Nasarawa United defender, Uzochukwu ‘Ayaya’ Austin has opened up on his side’s highly anticipated regional derby clash against in-form Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Professional Football League gameday fixture 23.
Austin who has endured quite a tough season so far, owing to injury crisis and the recent loss of his mother, said he has put everything behind in other to help his side’s chase for the title this season.
Nasarawa United currently occupies the fourth position on the NPFL log with 39 points, just two points separating them from league leaders, Akwa United (41) and same number of points from second placed Matchday opponent, Kano Pillars (41).
Reacting to his side’s big test against against Kano Pillars during a pre-game presser with Lodgexpress sport correspondent, Faith Onwukwe, Austin said;
‘I feel really delighted to be back with the team after a difficult past months. While I was nursing my injury and hoping to back to action, I got hit with the sad news of my mum’s death, I’m fine everything is now normal and I’m back in action’.
‘Kano Pillars should be looking forward to a massive clash later today. We’re aiming to go top of the league with a win here in Kaduna and I’m hopeful that at the end of the day we’d come out victorious with all the maximum points’
‘We’re focused on winning the league this season and Kano Pillars wouldn’t be a barrier to our aim’.
