Manchester United signing Mason Mount’s father played a secret role in his move to Old Trafford.
Mount, who has been with Chelsea since his formative years, left the Stamford Bridge club this summer.
With the two clubs battling to agree a fee, The Athletic reports that Tony Mount stepped in to speak the two parties into agreeing with each other.
Both Chelsea and United returned to the negotiating table and agreed a compromise fee for Mount.
He has long undergone his medical exams and signed his contract at Old Trafford.
Mount will wear the famous no 7 shirt when he appears for United next season.
