Man Utd manager Ten Hag opens up on Ronaldo absence for Cup win

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo was left out of the squad that faced Aston Villa due to illness.

The Red Devils grabbed payback for their recent Premier League defeat to Villa, winning 4-2 in the Carabao Cup third round at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

Nevertheless, Ronaldo was not included in the squad for United, with manager Erik ten Hag confirming the issue was an illness.

Asked about the matter pre-game, ten Hag stated: “Illness.

“Not available.

“Difficult to say how he recovers, I’m not worried until now.”

United take on Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday before the World Cup break.
