Manchester United and England defender Luke Shaw was amazed by the atmosphere for their 2-1 victory against Manchester City on Saturday.
The 27-year-old full-back was once again preferred to Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire as Raphael Varane’s pair in central defence, with the duo successfully limiting City star Erling Haaland’s influence on the contest.
Reacting while speaking with club media after the come-from-behind victory, Shaw claimed the Old Trafford atmosphere was the best he had witnessed since joining the club from Southampton in 2014.
Shaw said, “‘It’s incredible, for me, I’ve been here a long time now, I think eight years. For me, today, the atmosphere was the best I’ve been involved in.
“It shows the fans are with us, they’re pushing us in the right direction, and I hope they really enjoyed it today.
“We love the atmosphere; we love them being there and we are glad to be making them happy again.”
