Chelsea may have effectively buried their interest in West Ham United star Declan Rice.
The England international is someone ex Blues boss Frank Lampard wanted to sign for the defensive midfield spot.
Nevertheless, Lampard is out of the picture and Thomas Tuchel is now in charge.
According to The Guardian, it was Frank Lampard who was the ‘main driver’ behind pursing Rice, not the club’s board.
The Hammers are determined to keep their 22-year-old and have slapped an £80m to deter any suitors.
One of which could be Liverpool, who are interested in a summer move for Rice as they look to booster their squad.
