Evans Iyebi has urged Akwa United to maintain their momentum when they return to Uyo for their matchday 10 clash with Kwara United.
The current league champions moved up to 7th place in the Nigeria Professional Football League standing, five points behind leaders Rivers United, after securing their first league away win of the season at Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
And the left-back who was impressive in Sunday’s victory told Lodgexpress.com during his post-game press conference;
“When we return to our base, we have the very tight schedule of matches.
“I know we will have to add extra push in training to be at the top, and use all the squad for these kind of fixtures that are coming up for us.
“I’m convinced we are (heading) in the right direction.”
Evans added that the Promise Keepers must pick up all the available points even when they are not playing well.
“It’s no doubt that every team challenging for the title will experience both a bad period and a good period. The important thing is in the bad period to grab the points, and to remain (in contention).
“We are performing really well at the moment, but the season is a long one.”
