Nigeria midfielder and Dinamo Batumi star, Benjamin Teidi has reacted to his side’s 3-2 aggregate loss to Turkish outfit, Sivasspor yesterday Thursday, August 14th in UEFA Europa Conference League qualification second leg after it ended 1-1.
Dinamo Batumi went into the game needing to overcome a 2-1 first leg loss in Georgia and got the breakthrough after 78 minutes from Giorgi Pantsulaia all thanks to a brilliant low cross from Benjamin Teidi to level the aggregate scoreline at 2-2.
Sequel to the abolition of away goal simulation which would have sent Dinamo Batumi straight into the next phase of the maiden European competition, the play was taken into an extra time (30 minutes), to determine the winner before a late 109 minutes leveler from Jorge Felix gave Sivasspor a 3-2 aggregate lead over Dinamo Batumi.
And Teidi who was pivotal in his side’s equalizer, said in his post-match interview with Lodgexpress;
“I’m grateful to God for the result though wasn’t in our favor, I’m delighted we were able to play up to this stage.
“We gave our very best to ensure we secure our qualification but sadly our collective efforts were not enough to take us to the next round but we’re grateful.
Reacting to his assist on the night, Teidi added;
“I was supernaturally inspired to be honest. I saw the space and I had made the runs, saw Pantsulaia in a vintage position then I square the pass. I’m happy we scored it”.
Benjamin Teidi and his teammates will now turn their attention to a trip to Subartalo Tbilisi on Monday, August 16 for their league game fixure 23.
