Sunshine Stars matchday captain, Habib Yakub, has expressed delight after winning his first ever official match as a Sunshine Stars skipper after their impressive 3-0 thrashing of Kano Pillars on Sunday.
The right back who also made his first appearance this season after four games, assisted Sunshine Stars for their opening goal from a corner kick before going on to be named in DigiSport matchday five team of the week.
Reacting while speaking with Lodgexpress.com after the game, the deeply delighted Yakub said;
“I’m really delighted with the way things went on Sunday. Before the kickoff, I approached the club’s skipper, Abey Sunday and sought for his blessings after which I went out and got an assist.
“It was a great result, we came out and gave it all and I was really amazed after I was told I’ll be the one to lead the team against a great club like Pillars, seriously it was a dream come through for me.”
Following the result, Sunshine Stars now occupy 15th position with 5 points from 4 games played while Kano Pillars dropped to the bottom of the log with 4 points from 5 games played.
