Plateau United centre-back, Andrew Ikefe cannot be called upon by coach Fidelis Ilechukwu for Wednesday’s Nigeria topflight league clash, following a foot injury he sustained on Sunday during their 1-0 win over Kwara United.
Ilechukwu has received some disappointing news from the treatment table in the build-up to Wednesday’s league match against MFM FC as he will have to make do without the services of defender Ikefe due to injury.
Ikefe felt uncomfortable after 10 minutes into the game following a clash with Kwara United striker. After being medically examined on the pitch, Ikefe was told he couldn’t continue as his foot had began to swell.
He was helped off the pitch thanks to the medical team and was captured in tears as he received applause from his home supporters.
It remains unknown exactly how long Andrew Ikefe will be unavailable, but Plateau United have confirmed that the centre-back won’t take part in Wednesday’s game at Lagos.
Plateau United currently sit 10th on the log with 3 points from 2 games, while MFM FC are 20th with zero points.
