Reports coming from Akwa United has it that centre-back, Samson Gbadebo and new signing frontman, Stephen Chukwude, were both excluded from the traveling squad after the former was diagnosed with malaria and the latter ruled out after picking up a slight knock during their 3-0 thumping win over Kano Pillars last Sunday.

Although Chukwude’s injury is not thought to be too ‘serious’, he should be fit and ready for their midweek clash against Gombe United.
The duo enjoyed a fantastic outing in front of their home supporters last Sunday, with Gbadebo helping his side secure a cleansheet victory and Chukwude assisting Ezekiel Bassey for his first goal and further adding his name on the scoresheet with a sublime finish; a perfect way to announce himself before his new team and home fans.
