Rivers United left-back Ebube Duru was left satisfied with their 1-1 draw against Abia Warriors.
Paul Samson opened the scoring, but Joseph Onoja equalised less than five minutes into the second half for a 1-1 draw at Okigwe Township Stadium.
“There’s always this feeling of relief when you are down by a lone goal and you roar back into the game to get an equaliser. I suppose all matches you don’t win at away people say it’s not a great performance but I don’t think we didn’t perform well today.
“We kept at our task and maintained possession in the first opening minutes but sadly we had to return to the dressing room with a goal down.
“We went one down to a goal from Samson and from then on against a good Abia Warriors team who kept playing even after being reduced to 10-men, but I was pleased with the way we kept playing our football, taking the game to them and creating chances.
“In the second half we fully deserved our equaliser so I suppose I’ll dodge the question whether it was a good performance or whatever and say that I was very pleased with the way everyone on the pitch went about their task.”
