Real Madrid center-back Eder Militao admits he’s nervous ahead of Brazil’s World Cup campaign.
His teammate at Real, Karm Benzema suffered a left thigh injury while training on Saturday in Doha after sprinting toward the end of the session.
An MRI later confirmed a tear that will need three weeks of recovery time, ruling him out of action in Qatar for France.
“I haven’t spoken to him,” Militao stated when asked about the Frenchman.
The Brazilian is understandably busy with his own preparations ahead of what will be his first World Cup experience.
“It’s all very new to me, it’s my first World Cup,” Militao added. “I’m very happy, anxious.”
Brazil are viewed by many as the favorites, but Militao remained coy about the team’s chances in Qatar.
“I can’t say that [we are favorites] because that would be a bit disrespectful,” said Militao. “There are many teams in the mix.”
As for where Militao will play, the Real Madrid isn’t concerned as he’ll do what is asked of him.
“I leave that to the coach,” said Militao. “I just have to train and leave it to him.
“I played one game [at full-back], but as I said, I leave that to the coach’s decision.”
