England international Harry Maguire is set lose his Manchester United captaincy this summer.
As reported by The Sun, Maguire may well leave United in the transfer window, but is also eager to battle for his place.
Nevertheless, his future is not relevant to the captaincy, which the paper says will not be his next season.
Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes is the main candidate to take over the permanent armband.
Fernandes has been skipper on the field for United when Maguire has not started games.
The 30-year-old is being linked to a move to another Premier League side in West Ham United.
