Plateau United centerback Andrew Ikefe was pleased to be part of their 2-0 win of Lobi Stars on Wednesday afternoon.
Izuchukwu Chimezie gave the visitors the lead before Albert Hilary came off the bench to add score one goal in the last minute of the game, with Plateau United hitting top form away from home this season.
Ikefe was tasked with the responsibility of protecting the backline. He offered a lot of creative essence going forward, with his combination play with Sunday Anthony particularly catching the eye.
He registered his first assist of the season by supplying an excellent pass for Chimezie’s goal around the 37th minute mark.
Ikefe was a hugely impressive figure at the back, in a game which Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side dominated from start to finish and he was delighted with the performance of the entire squad.
“Today I was delighted to make an assist, but all the team played so good,” he told Lodgexpress.com.
“The guys who were introduced, played so fantastic as well, the last 20-30 minutes. That is the most important thing. That is our might. That is good for us, for the club and the supporters.
“When you grab victories like this you get the confidence back. It is each game at a time. It is going to be different. This game was different than Gombe United, so our next home game will be different.
“Today we have to enjoy this result and tomorrow be return to Jos to prepare for Katsina United game.”
It was ikefe who captained the team to their impressive result. They still maintain their 2nd spot on the log after Rivers United recorded a 1-0 win over Rivers United.
