Big blow for Abia Warriors as defender, Ekemini Ekereuke fractures leg during training

Abia Warriors defender, Ekemini Ekereuke has suffered a fresh injury setback during a training session with his new teammates barely days after recovering from an hamstring injury that sidelined him for 3-months.

Ekereuke completed a move to Abia Warriors after winning his maiden NPFL title with Akwa United and was in line to make his first start for Abia Warriors before fracturing his right leg during a training session.

 

He returned to the club on Monday, January 3 after burying his mother on his birthday back in December 31, 2021.

 

According to a post shared on the Facebook page of Abia Warriors, the new signing suffered a ‘right tibia-fibula closed fracture’ and will undergo the knife tomorrow, Friday, December 7.

𝗘𝗸𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘂𝗸𝗲 𝗘𝗸𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝗜𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲….

Sad to announce that our player, Ekereuke Ekemini, fractured his right leg during a training session. Tests conducted showed he has a ‘right tibia-fibula closed fracture ‘
Currently being managed at the Federal Medical Center Umuahia, Ekemini will be moved to theatre for surgery tomorrow.

We wish him well and pray for his recovery soonest.

Abia Warriors will jet out to Lagos this weekend to take on MFM FC in matchday five.
