Alaekwe who was given a break from the starting eleven after playing a huge part in their 0-0 draw at Remo Stars in midweek fixture, was introduced in the 72nd minutes, coming on for home debutant, Charles Eguavon, when the game was 1-0.

His introduction brought along a fresh creative spark in the side. His electrifying runs down the flanks and his inch-perfect crosses into the box were top notch all through his stay and his ability to dazzle through the Akwa United backline caused them issues which further led to Silas Nwankwo’s 83rd minutes goal.

“It was a good game and not a difficult one too. The both sides had their turns to control the game but thank God we dominated the play and laid the game to rest in the second half.

Reacting after recording their first league win of the season, the fans favorite added;

“It feels amazing that we continued our unbeaten run in the new year 2022 and what makes it special for us is that its our first home match in the new year and we capped it with a well deserved 3 points.

“God made it all possible and we return the glory to Him.”

Their next game comes up this Sunday and it’s a trip to Dakkada Football Club in Uyo.
