Plateau United recorded another cleansheet victory on Sunday during their matchday 17 fixture against Katsina United.
A late minutes Ibrahim Buhari diving header gave the hosts all three points as they continue to trail behind Rivers United in the race for the league title.
And center-back, Andrew Ikefe who paired with Buhari, took on the mantle of doing the clean-up job at the back.
The versatile defender won each of the six aerial duels he contested while completing three clearances, two interceptions and two tackles. He also smartly built up play from the back and really had a busy afternoon in keeping Katsina United forwards silent.
Ikefe is upbeat about their chances of finishing on top of the table this season and is convinced they have a squad capable of competing on all fronts.
“We have great players in this team and we’re really focused on fighting for all the trophies this season. He told Lodgexpress.com
“The important thing right now is to bring home the three points, whatever we do, it is most important we grab every point and make our fans happy.
“Today’s win is very important, we’ve been doing this in consecutive games for some time. I think we are back to our better levels, there’s continuity in the team and this our form is the most important thing at the moment.”
