Plateau United defender Ikefe insists they can be satisfied with their 1-1 Saturday’s draw with Enyimba.
Their astonishing point away at Aba extraordinarily included another brilliant show of defensive genius achieved primarily through the heroics of center-back, Andrew Ikefe.
Ikefe was dominant in the backline, winning 5 aerial duels, making 2 interceptions as well as a colossal 8 clearances.
It isn’t a mean feat to keep a star-studded Enyimba side of Mbaoma, Awazie, Stone and Kalu with limited shots on goal after 90 minutes.
He has since said that the performance was satisfying during his post game interview with Lodgexpress.com.
He said, “We really wanted to win the game and finish up top. We came here looking to take three points and were really solid in the first half and Enyimba didn’t create enough clear-cut chances. I think we opened up a bit more in the first half which made them got at us and opened up the scoring.
“We played some great football in the first half and could and should’ve closed the game, but got unlucky to go by a goal down.
“Despite returning back to the dressing room trailed by one goal, we were still a team that never gives up until the final whistle. It’s not the first time we’re coming from behind to level the game and we displayed that again against a top team in the division.
“Everyone felt really good and we’re now focused on our next home game against Sunshine Stars as we hope to finish the first round as league leaders”.
