MFM FC midfielder, Aminu Azeez was full of delight with their performance on Sunday following a 2-1 win over Abia Warriors.
Azeez was handed his first start of the season and he starred in middle before coming off late in the game after limping around with discomfort.
Given MFM FC’s dominated possession, Azeez was able to showcase the full array of passes in his armoury.
There were attack-progressing passes, short, incisive balls into the feet of attackers, and one crisp, defence-splitting through pass that led to the build-up in one of Muyiwa’s goals.
Azeez also pressed effectively throughout before coming off due to a discomfort on his thigh.
Reports reaching Lodgexpress has it that the player experienced a muscle strain which forced him to discontinue the game but has since recovered from it after participating alongside his teammates during their morning drills.
Reacting after making his first appearance this season, Azeez told Lodgexpress;
“I’m very delighted and glad because it’s my first game of the season and I’m also glad to begin the season with a home win right in front of our supporters.
“We are presently not in a good position on the log and in our next fixture away home, we will focus our attention on getting a result that will fire us to the top five on the log.”
MFM FC will travel to Nnewi this weekend for their matchday 6 clash with high-flying side, Rangers International Football Club. They currently sit at 14th with 6 points from 5 matches and a win at Nnewi will see them occupy the top five spots on the league standing.
