Super Eagles and Everton attacker, Alex Iwobi has been ruled out of Nigeria’s final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho after returning a positive testing for Covid-19.

The Everton attacker tested positive in Benin Republic ahead of Saturday’s AFCON clash against the host side. He later returned to Nigeria with the rest of the squad on Sunday.

Reports on circulation now has it that Iwobi has left the camp,” according to Super Eagles spokesman Babafemi Raji. “Before he left, he did not show any symptoms, he was fine. The team will follow up on him.”

Nigeria currently sits top of Group L with 11 points from five games and have already qualified for the 2021 AFCON, which will be hosted by Cameroon in January 2022.

They will play their final qualifying match against bottom nation Lesotho at the National Stadium, Surulere on Tuesday, March 30.
