Abia Warriors attacking midfielder, Nweke Kalu has said they were worthy winners against Enyimba Football Club.
The Warriors were comfortable 2-1 victors in Wednesday’s derby.
Nweke who made the starting lineup on the afternoon, produced a vintage display in the 3-goal thriller.
It was the playmaker who pulled the strings in midfield for Amakapabo’s men in a performance seen regularly in his last five games.
Nweke told Lodgexpress during his post-game presser: “Our supporters were amazing. 2-1 is a good result for us and the gap that separates us from relegation zone is now extended which is good.
“We want to fight to finish in (top 7) and we all know it’s very possible.
“We could have scored three or more goals but I think we reserved it for the next game. We really deserved the victory because we were the better side.”
The result leaves Abia Warriors in thirteenth position with 25 points from 21 games played so far and will be on the road this weekend to take on Sunshine Stars in Ijebu Ode.
