Warri Wolves began their campaign in the 2021/2022 Nigeria National League with a 2-1 win against Abia Comets at the Warri Township Stadium on February 13 and one player who won the Man of the Match for his performance was new signing, Damilare Babatunde who is sure to reverberate all through this season.
Damilare plays as a winger, attacking midfielder or supporting striker, though he is more comfortable as a natural winger on either flanks.
The ex Vandrezzer man has been praised for his adaptability and ability to play wide, at the tip of a midfield diamond and centrally, offering flexibility.
Known for his low centre of gravity, pace and dribbling skills, Damilare has been tipped for greatness by Warri Wolves CEO, Etu Moses, who has also lauded the summer business for offering a “real threat,” his use of pace with composure and his maturity.
Despite his small stature, Dami also possesses considerable upper-body strength, which aids him in withstanding challenges, and retaining possession.
Though right-footed, Damilare tends to prefer playing down the left, which in turn allows him to use his speed and skill to leave opposition defenders in something of a daze by full-time and so far this season in the second tier of football in the country, he has registered a goal and produced jaw-dropping moments in all of his four appearances where he’s played a total of 350 minutes.
Their next game comes up on Wednesday and it’s at home against Go Round Football Club.
