Yinusa Sheriff enjoying Bayelsa United experience in NPFL: Just a big family

Center-back Yinusa Sheriff says he’s enjoying his first experience with Bayelsa United.

Sheriff played a full 90 minutes against Lobi Stars on Sunday – helping them keep a clean sheet in a 3-0 win – and is enjoying a defensive pairing with Endurance Ebedebiri under manager Diepreye Tiebowei.

Since arriving the club as a free agent during the mid-season transfer window, Bayelsa United have only recorded one defeat in five games compared to the first round where they recorded only one win in nine games.

“It’s very good, I’m so proud to be part of Bayelsa United,” he told Lodgexpress.com. “The team is very nice, the coaching is very good and it’s fun to be here.

“It’s like one big family, we have high profile players, big personalities but I think the atmosphere is brilliant. I’m a little bit surprised [by how good it is], it’s very good for me to come to a team as a new player and the team make it very easy to adapt and settle.

“I am satisfied [with the Lobi Stars game], I think the team showed a good performance and the defence was very good as well. We won the game but the most important thing was the display from everyone and that was very brilliant.

“I think we are just inches away from being at 100 per cent. Its been an exciting past three weeks after we defeated Abia Warriors and scored five goals, went to Bauchi and secured a comeback victory against Wikki Tourists, then on Sunday we had a difficult game, against Lobi Stars but made it an easy ride, so now we can relax a bit and this week we will focus on the game this weekend and prepare for Doma United.”
