FC Ifeanyi Ubah were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Enyimba after Benin Republic international, Nabil Yarou late minute diving header equalizer in matchday 34 clash on Thursday, cancelled out striker Uzochukwu Ifejiofor’s 30 minutes header to leave Coach Uche Okagbue’s’s men looking over their shoulders in the race for relegation survival.
Uzochukwu Ifejiofor put the Anambra Warriors ahead when he nodded home Evans Ogbonda’s delightful dinked ball just 15 minutes before halftime but Yarou equalised with a diving header from winger Anayo Iwuala’s set piece that beat shotstopper, Uzoigwe Sharp at his near post in the 86th minute.
Evans Ogbonda has now provided a total of 13 brilliant assists in his maiden experience in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Both teams dominated possessions with FC Ifeanyi Ubah duo, Awazie Ekene and Nzediegwu Nonso came close to scoring from combination plays, while the visitors were also denied from point-blank range thanks to the brilliance of the host team goalkeeper Sharp Uzoigwe.
Yarou’s leveller shook the 18th placed home side and they were almost caught out again in stoppage time when only a last-ditch clearance from defender James Abel denied danger man Tosin Omoyele his last touch that would have ruined the chances of the host side surviving relegation this term.
