Sunshine Stars center-back Ekerette Udom was happy to beat former club Dakkada in their final game of the season on Sunday.
Udom, who quit the club after last season, did a superb job of marshalling the Owena Whales’ backline to another clean sheet in their 3-0 win. The centre-half also scored a headed goal from a cross for his third goal of the season.

“It was nice to see my old team-mates – a game is a game,” he said. “I am glad we won. I am happy to play against my old club.
“I had a point to prove. I think I did very well in the game. Hopefully it carries on through the Super Six playoffs.
“I am very happy with my game here, playing was the main thing when I moved from Uyo and I am enjoying my football at the moment.
” This season has so far been my best when looking at my goals. I’m really delighted to have scored again in the victory, but I must say it is bittersweet because it was against a club that’s been my home. While I was there last season I defended the crest to the last minute but today they had to be the ones to defend against me.
I just had to celebrate the goal out of respect for my present club and also for what the goal meant. I wish Dakkada all the best.”
