Sunshine Stars defender Dennis Chigozie urges calm after Abia Warriors defeat

Sunshine Stars full-back Dennis Chigozie has urged calm after their defeat at Abia Warriors.

Sunshine Stars have now gone four straight games without a win in the league this season.

Dennis while reacting to the narrow 2-1 loss on Sunday, told Lodgexpress official website, “This defeat must not change our objectives, as we are a strong team and we played well today, we just need to be more clinical.

“We passed really well, created chances but just couldn’t get the goals at the end. They scored two quick goals, we were able to respond immediately with an equalizer but I guess everything happened really late in the game.

“Inside the changing room heads were not down at all. We were just frustrated that we couldn’t get that extra goal. In games like this you need to score, keep applying pressure, and credit to Abia Warriors they stopped us.

“Apart from the result I think it was a satisfying game. Sunshine Stars played well. We dominated most of the times, we knew how to play well against a tough rival who play some intense football, and we made spaces and created some good chances. The goal never came, but we’ll work on that for this decisive week.”

As it stands, only four points separates them from top three spot which is currently occupied by Doma United. They will return to Akure this weekend to welcome Group B leaders, Lobi Stars.
