Shedrack Asiegbu felt every Rivers United player contributed to their 1-1 draw at Heartland on Wednesday evening.
The Pride of Rivers frustrated and stifled Christian Obi’s side at Dan Anyiam stadium to come away with a vital point courtesy of a starring role from new signing Asiegbu.
The humble midfielder spoke to Lodgexpress official website after being named Man of the match, was full of praise for his teammates who did everything they could to gain a positive result.
Asiegbu also indicated that this is the way Stanley Eguma’s side has to operate in big games to come if they want to challenge for the league title.
“I think we did a fantastic job,” he said.
“I think we can be very proud of our team, every payer did everything, gave everything. This is how we have to play in big matches.
“We were better in every area of the first half, they were much better pushing for the winning goal in the second half.
“It was a fair point. Both teams didn’t deserve to lose. We want to be champions, we are Rivers United, we have to win matches.
“We just tried to win every battle, every duel. We knew in advance it was going to be a big fight away from home.
“They are in a very good moment, they want to win every ball, we were prepared for that. We showed that we are a big team we will fight for anything.
“Personally I’m proud of every teammate.”
