Remo Stars midfielder Samuel Anaekwe hailed Kayode Bankole after his wonder save to deny Gombe United Thursday’s equalizer.
Anaekwe said: “I don’t know how he pulled out that save.
“He kept us in the game. I think he got his finger tip in the way of it!
Anaekwe was delighted with spirit Remo Stars showed to fight for a victory.
He added: “We came out in the second half and pushed them really hard and we all knew we were going to score because the pressure was high for them.
“I think we deserved the goal that Andy scored although we were a bit lucky. But you take anything and everything you can get. It was a great ball in from Lekan. We all know Andy to be a very dangerous player in set pieces – gladly he was at the right place at the right time and headed it in.
“It was a really important victory. With other teams winning their away games we knew we had to keep that gap as wide as possible between others.
“Beating Gombe United in front of their fans was a great result – we need to keep going now.”
