Remo Stars striker Isaac James believes his teammate Ismaila Sodiq can go on to become the best right-back ever seen in the Nigeria topflight division.
Sodiq has now provided a stunning 11 assists in 13 games since making his debut in the second round of last season.
The Nigerian full-back, who plays a very advanced role in Daniel Ogunmodede’s setup for the Sky Blue stars, is often the most creative Remo Stars player on the pitch.
Ismaila Sodiq’s crossing and general passing are key outlets for his side, which Isaac James acknowledged.
Speaking to Lodgexpress official website after their come-from-behind victory against Sporting Lagos, James said: “Yes, Sodiq is really important for us.
“Not just with the assists but in the general gameplay, when he is in possession of the ball he is really important. He always can find a pass in between the lines. Sometimes we think he doesn’t have a solution and he always finds an important pass.
“Of course, when he’s on the other part of the pitch he can always change the game, he can always find an assist. And 11 assists in all his 13 games is really impressive for a right-back.
“Just this season alone, he has assisted three times from four games and we still have 7 or 8 months to play, so this number will be high. When I see Sodiq play, it is really hard to find a right-back who plays like this, who looks more like a No.8 or a No.10 than a right-back.
“But I hope he will keep on playing like this, to playing at a high level because he can be one of the best right-backs in African football history, maybe the best. Hopefully he will keep playing like this.”
