Rangers midfielder Naziru Auwalu: Niger Tornadoes point a good result

Enugu Rangers midfielder Nasiru Auwalu was happy with their 0-0 draw at Niger Tornadoes.

The Flying Antelopes earned the point in a game which saw them continue their winless run to 4/4 on the back of a 1-1 draw at home against Sunshine Stars.

In a tie that seemed bereft of skill and urgency, Auwalu was the player who kept things ticking, playing admirably against a combative Niger Tornadoes midfield. His quality and calmness on the ball was key to Rangers staying in the game and eventually holding on for the single point.

To grab a point under such circumstances is a huge boost for Maikaba’s men, and he would have Auwalu largely to thank for such a result.

Auwalu told Lodgexpress official website post-game: “We needed that against a top team. In recent games we have struggled with teams but we were able to compete against the team who are very much in form. We showed that we can create chances and on another day we my have nicked that.

“We needed that after the Sunshine Stars game. We pressed them in their half, higher up. We wanted to get a result and we got one.

“We know we shouldn’t be in this position but we just have to build on it going into our next home game against Dakkada.”
