Plateau United defender Christopher Nwaeze: We can’t get carried away by Nasarawa Utd win

Plateau United defender Christopher Nwaeze has urged his teammates to stay grounded after 2-1 triumph at Nasarawa United.

Victory on Wednesday moved Fidelis Illechukwu’s side to fifth position on the table with Plateau United set to play hosts to Kwara United this Sunday.

Nwaeze was a big presence in the Plateau United back four alongside his favorite defensive partner, Emmanuel Ifeanyi, making 4 tackles and 9 clearances. After the side went back in front courtesy of Ifeanyi’s goal, Nwaeze managed to hold Nasarawa United and prevented them from grabbing an equalizer.

Despite the victory, Nwaeze doesn’t seem to get carried away.

“[There is] still a long way to go,” he told Lodgexpress.com.

“This is a league that everyone wants to be at the top and we are just few points away at the moment. The result here was great, it was what we wanted and the only thing we need to keep doing.

“The next game is Kwara United this weekend and then Remo Stars and Gombe United, so the results from this games can do a great deal but we are not going to think about that. We take it game by game.”
