Nigeria’s brightest young talents are set to take centre stage over the course of the next five months as the Nigeria Professional Football League 2023 season kicks off on Sunday, January 8.
In every campaign there are always new stars who emerge and there are some incredibly talented players who are ready to become bonafide superstars.
Below we identify a young player who we believe has all it takes to become the next big thing;
Samuel Anaekwe: Remo Stars (Midfielder)
Anaekwe is one midfielder who is gifted with a great ability to hold the game together and create pressure thus freeing the fullbacks. His playmaking ability were exactly what Remo Stars coaches, players and fans enjoyed last league season.
The ace Nigerian midfielder is a highly creative and technically gifted deep-lying playmaker, with excellent ball controls and dribbling skills, which allows him to maraud effectively in a deep-seated playmaking role as a central midfielder, although he also has the capability of operating in a more advanced role as an attacking midfielder.
Rated as an extraordinary player in the Nigeria Professional Football League by pundits, Anaekwe has been noted for his accurate ball distributions, as he possesses amazing passing vision, technique and maintained a 90.2% pass success rate throughout the 2021–22 NPFL season.
He finished last season on a high, netting five times and assisting on three occasions in 18 outings for Remo Stars.
