Nigeria’s football biggest talents are set to take centre stage over the course of the next five months as the Nigeria Professional Football League 2023 season kicks off on Sunday, January 8.
In every campaign there are always new stars who emerge and there are some incredibly talented players who are ready to become bonafide superstars.

Shedrack Asiegbu (Rangers Football Club): Attacking Midfielder
Shedrack Asiegbu is a professional football player who is currently on the books of Rangers Football Club in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Originally a striker while growing up as a kid, Shedrack Asiegbu before developing into a talented playmaker, who is known in particular for his technique, vision, creativity, passing range and ability to provide assists for his teammates; he also possesses an eye for goal thanks to his ability to make stealth runs into the box.
A versatile player, Asiegbu is usually played as an attacking midfielder behind the forwards, which is his preferred position, but is also capable of operating as a winger, an attacking midfielder or as a deep-lying playmaker.
The Rangers star is usually deployed in double pivot in 3–4–3 formation, fielding as a number 8 looking to get forward and contribute to the attack and also has a good passing range, as he can distribute passes of any type whether he is looking to break lines with penetrative passes, switch the play or passes that split the opposition defensive backline, which he is highly effective.
Shedrack Asiegbu also has the ability to drift with the ball and make progressive runs, using a combination of strength and speed to make these runs, while also displaying good technique on the ball. He also posses a good reading and anticipation of the game, which allows him to make effective interceptions and challenges.
He promises to be an important asset to coach Abdul Maikaba when they begin their 2023 campaign against his former club, Abia Warriors.
