The Nigeria Premier Football League’s biggest stars are set to return to action this weekend in what is promising to be another exciting, action-packed 2023 season.
In a build up to the kickoff, we’ve decided to take a look at one player who could make an impressive mark across the new season for his club.
🔵 Emmanuel Jonas (Niger Tornadoes): Forward
Emmanuel Jonas is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays for Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Premier Football League as a striker.
Regarded as one of Nigerian football’s most promising prospects, Jonas is a quick, tenacious, and physically strong striker, with good technical skills and an accurate shot.

Naturally right-footed, his best suited role is in the centre as a main striker, although he is also capable of operating as a second striker, or even as a left-sided forward or winger.
Jonas is known in particular for having great pace, ability in the air, offensive movement, and powerful physique, which enable him either to hold up the ball with his back to goal or take advantage of openings in the opposition’s backline; a hard-working player, he has also been hailed for his defensive contribution off the ball.
He commonly plays as a central striker, in particular a ‘target man’ role, due to his aerial dominance and ability to hold up the play.
He is renowned as a goal poacher, with good reactive finishing inside the penalty area and will always be remembered by Niger Tornadoes fans as the player who played the most crucial role during the 2021/2022 season after joining them during the mid-season from Heartland while they were struggling to survive relegation, and helping them survive the drop zone courtesy of his 90th minute winner against MFM away from home.
