Nigeria’s brightest young talents are set to take centre stage over the course of the next five months as the Nigeria Professional Football League 2023 season kicks off on Sunday, January 8.
In every campaign there are always new stars who emerge and there are some incredibly talented players who are ready to become bonafide superstars.
Below we identify a young player who we believe has all it takes to become the next big thing;
Ayobami Junior (Kwara United): Midfielder
An intelligent, talented, and hard-working midfielder, Kwara United star, Ayobami Junior is known in the media as a well-rounded playmaker who possess good stamina and defensive skills, as well as excellent technique, vision, close control, passing, and an ability to read games, which allows him to dictate play in midfield area and create chances for his teammates after winning back possession.
As such, Ayobami has the ability of both breaking down plays by the opposition and subsequently transitioning the ball forward immediately to initiate attacks; he also has the ability of scoring goals himself, thanks to his striking ability from long range, as well as his ability to find and exploit spaces with his movement when not with the ball and make attacking runs into the box.
Being Kwara United’s versatile player, Ayo has the capability of flourishing in different midfield roles, and has been deployed as a winger on either side of the pitch, as a central midfielder, as an attacking midfielder, in a box-to-box role, as a defensive midfielder, or even as a deep-lying playmaker.
His first test of the season will be this Sunday in Ibadan when his side play host to Gombe United in the season opening fixture.
