Doma United goalkeeper Kingdom Osayi was deeply delighted with his clean sheet for their 0-0 draw at Niger Tornadoes.
It was a history-making moment for the newly promoted side after recording their first ever away cleansheet and a point away from home since arriving the top-flight league from the NNL this season and they had Osayi to thank after they secured a vital point.
Osayi made a total of four saves and and operated at a pass accuracy of 93.1%.
In order for Doma United to be the formidable force that they were for the previous season in the NNL, stability at the back is paramount and the form of new signing Osayi between the sticks is crucial. It was also his second clean sheet in four games.
He then told Lodgexpress official website after the game;
“The one point means so much in the context of things, it almost feels like we’ve won the game from the way we celebrated in the locker room.
“With our position on the Group B table (6th) and five points adrift league leaders, any points are vital at this stage of the campaign and could prove to be big come the end of the season.
“Given our recent run it feels so good to come here and give a reaction, and the clean sheet is a clear testament to the effort of everyone today.”
On the impressive saves he made which made him earn applauds from opposition fans, Osayi added: “I can only make the saves that the backline allow me to – especially when they’re giving their very best to throw themselves at everything, it means the opposition have to work extra hard to get the opportunities of shooting at me,” he continued.
“All what I did was to get out to the chance and make myself big as much as I can, but the fact I was able to do that is tribute to everyone playing in front of me.
“Personally it feels so good to deny their efforts this afternoon, and I’m just glad to help the team.”
