Nasarawa United defender Nelson Abiam was delighted to score his first goal for the club in their 1-0 stunning win against Shooting Stars over the weekend.
It is the first time in their last six games that Abubakar Arikya’s side have recorded a victory in the league and, for Nelson Abiam, it was a thing of delight.
“That is football, the emotions of the game and the different ways it could have gone,” he told Lodgexpress official website.
“I think it is all down to the lads and how we work each day, it is a result we fully deserve.
“Every week we keep building and fighting to get the right results and that’s what we managed to do today…We just keep going, play the way we play and the goals will come.
“It (scoring the winner) was unbelievable. It was King (Osanga) that crossed it from a corner kick and I’m glad I was there to put it inside the net, so I’m very grateful.”
“We had belief going into this game, and after this win we’ll continue to pick it up in our remaining two games. I think we’ve had our setbacks this season, we need to make sure that we don’t have any more and that we keep winning to rescue the shop from sinking.”
Nasarawa United are 9th on group A table with one point away from 8th placed Kwara United. They will be needing atleast a win and a draw in their last two games to be sure of remaining in the league for next season.
