MFM FC center-back Alimi Jr hails draw at Akwa Utd

MFM FC defender Adebayo Alimi Jr says they’re pleased after their 0-0 draw at Akwa United on Wednesday.

Alimi Jr feels their deserved draw with Akwa United will bring “more confidence” for MFM FC in the coming weeks as their battle to escape relegation takes a new twist.

The Nigerian center-back was at his supreme defensive best at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, making clean tackles, vital blocks, aerial clearances and breaking down Akwa United’s offensive plays for fun.

In total Alimi made 5 interceptions and 9 tackles, furthering his reputation as one of NPFL’s top tacklers.

“It’s a good one, I’m very delighted about the game today,” said Alimi Jr who spoke with Lodgexpress.com.
“Not every club can come to this ground and get points because it’s a very tough place to go. This scoreline will get us into the new week with lots of confidence for the next game [against Lobi Stars].

“Everyone helped in the defense and we did that really well, it was an overall team effort. It’s been good because we avoided conceding a goal that could have ruined things for us, and made the performance meaningless. We’re very pleased about this.”

Alimi Jr was pleased to see the team build on from the momentum of their last week’s victory over Gombe United and display defensive solidity.

“We got a clean sheet here and we move onto next week brimming with full confidence.”
