Lobi Stars’ Akile relishes idea of being a utility player

Monday Akile will play in any position if it means he gets time on the pitch. Naturally a left-footed playmaker, Akile has been asked to do a job in left-back and then on the left wing by Lobi Stars manager Baba Ganaru this season.

The Nigerian playmaker has not disappointed and shone as Lobi Stars won 2-0 against Doma United at New Jos Stadium to cement their position as leaders of Group B after Matchday 9.

“The gaffer [Ganaru] told me he was going to change me around a bit and use my energy to try and stop them from playing really, so I was delighted to perform in a different role,” he told Lodgexpress.com.

“Just have me on the football pitch and I will be glad, so it does not matter which position I have to play.”

Despite being tipped for a great success this season Akile insists he is not thinking of the league title at this time.

“I’m only looking forward to taking my chances but you also have to enjoy it because you do not get opportunities like this all the time,” he added.

“Right now myself and the rest of the squad are only thinking about the remaining fixtures of the campaign because there is still a long season to go.”
