Kufre Ebong looking at Dakkada beating the relegation battle

Dakkada striker Kufre Ebong is telling his team-mates to build on from the weekend victory over Doma United and concentrate on avoiding relegation to the Nigeria National League.

Mmekutmfon Udosen struck for the hosts at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium as they recorded a 1-0 narrow win; their third of the season.

Dakkada are deep in the relegation zone with 11 points from 13 games and occupying the bottom position in group B standing.

“We’ve done pretty well in the last couple of games and looking like a very good team, so we believe the Doma result can inspire a turn around in our season,” Ebong told Lodgexpress official website.

“We’ve got some big characters in the dressing room who’ll pick the team up; players who have been in this situation before and know what is needed to pull through.

“The players were really inspired after the game, and we know there’s a chance to turn things around with these remaining five games. That’s a massive fifteen points up for grabs

“The players, staff and fans will all be up for the challenge and ready to get behind the team to make this happen.”

Ebong believes three more wins and one draw should be enough to ensure the club’s safety.

“There is still a great chance for us to survive in the Nigeria Premier Football League and if we can pick up ten points from our remaining five games and results elsewhere goes in our favor, it will go a long way to achieving that,” he said.

“Only our passion and never say die attitude can do this magic for us so we’ll focus our attentions on Rivers United this weekend, a must win game, and do everything in our power to collect the three points or settle for a draw and return home to pick up points that will put us in a better position.”
